Pre-Employment Training for Autism Waiver program is designed to equip individuals with autism with the essential skills needed to successfully enter the workforce. This specialized course focuses on building confidence, communication, workplace etiquette, and job readiness. Through interactive sessions, hands-on training, and tailored support, participants will develop the tools to navigate professional environments effectively.

This program empowers individuals to transition smoothly into meaningful employment, fostering independence and long-term success.

Course Summary

What Will I Learn?

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Characteristics of autism, including social communication, repetitive behaviors, thinking and learning.
  • How to support autistic learners
  • ​How to communicate effectively with a child with Autism.
  • Picture cards, Sign Language, etc.
  • How to protect, to the extent possible, the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served; to ensure that client abuse, neglect, or exploitation is reported, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner; and to ensure that procedures are in place to prevent abuse.
  • How to recognize and report suspected client abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • How to implement positive behavior support programs with principles on Applied Behavior Analysis for individual growth and enhance quality of life.
  • How to implement proactive behavior intervention techniques effective.
  • How to recognize physical, emotional and behavior changes with the individual before and during a crisis.
  • How to implement strategies to de-escalate a crisis in order to ensure safety of the individual.
